June 2012

This edition of Zynx Update provides important information concerning changes to Zynx Health evidence-based decision support that occurred as of June 17, 2012. These changes may affect your order sets, plans of care, or other Zynx Health content.

Of special interest in this release is the update of the comprehensive 9th edition of the Antithrombotic Therapy and Prevention of Thrombosis Evidence-Based Clinical Practice Guidelines from the American College of Chest Physicians (ACCP). All affected content in ZynxAmbulatory, ZynxCare, and ZynxOrder has been updated to reflect the most current recommendations from the ACCP.

In ZynxOrder, numerous diagnosis-specific and procedure-specific Deep Venous Thrombosis – Prophylaxis short sets have been consolidated into a smaller number of general order sets, with the exception of selected orthopedic procedures for which the ACCP gives specific recommendations. Order sets for other specific surgeries now include reminders referring the user to the most relevant short set found in the Deep Venous Thrombosis – Prophylaxis module. Changes have also been made based on client feedback to streamline ZynxOrder content. Two changes are being piloted with this release: “Modular” order sets and more “Starter” sets. We welcome all client feedback on these pilots. Your input will help inform future changes to ZynxOrder content. For more information on these order sets, visit the ZynxOrder product page.

Beginning with the June 2012 release (and concluding with the September 2012 release), ZynxCare content (interdisciplinary evidence and plans of care) is being reorganized and streamlined to improve usability. This reorganization of content will be completed with the September release. Also noteworthy is the addition of the Personality Disorders module to ZynxCare; interdisciplinary evidence has also been added to the Personality Disorders module in ZynxEvidence. For more details on this updated content, visit the ZynxCare product page.

When appropriate, National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) reference citations are included in selected order sets in modules that include NCCN guidelines. The citations are in the form of a reminder and include a customized evidence link that opens the most recent version of the guideline.

Outcomes Navigator has been enhanced and streamlined to provide fast access to performance measures related to two new categories, Value-Based Purchasing and Accountable Care Organizations.

Finally, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) ARRA Electronic Health Record Incentive Program – Stage 2 proposed measures have been added to Zynx content and can be found on related evidence pages. A listing of the proposed measures can be found in the Performance Measure Library, which can be accessed through the Outcomes Navigator on the Zynx Web site.
