Printing Plans of Care

Printing Plans of Care

You can print a plan of care from either the Editor, Viewer, or content list.

  • From an open plan of care displayed in the Editor, click Print View from the Commands Menu. This will take you to the view mode, where you can print.
  • From an open plan of care displayed in the Viewer, click Print from the Commands Menu.
  • From the content list, select the plan of care and click the Print link to open the Print dialog box.

In the Print dialog box, select a print format for a plan of care:

  1. Select one of the following formats for saving and printing your file in either PDF, RTF, or HTML:
  • Review Report: Lists plan of care header information and all the reviews for the order set in a text file. Provides a way to see all the reviews for an order set without opening the Content Manager and scrolling through all the order set review notes. Can be opened in WordPad or Notepad.
  • Checklist: Prints just the activity details that support the following Activities: assessments, communication, patient education, treatment and procedures, and evaluations. Used as an education checklist, patient teaching tool, staff teaching tool, patient instructions, or to standardize care.
  • Plan of Care: Prints the plan of care with the following items: Problems, Expected Outcomes, Activities (which includes assessments, communication, diagnostics, medications, education, treatments and procedures, and evaluation), Reminders, and may include activity details. Used as a blueprint to direct patient care for the interdisciplinary team.
  • Task List: Prints a task list with categories or Sections (which include assessments or diagnostics) and Activities or Tasks (which includes pulmonary assessment or information about when to call the provider). Used as a task list, care pathway, or to standardize care for the interdisciplinary team.

You can also choose the Standard XLS V.1, XLS format. This format saves the plan of care in a spreadsheet that can be opened in Excel. Any internal notes or tasks associated with an item or Section are also saved to the spreadsheet.

  1. If you selected Checklist, Plan of Care, or XLS in step 1, the Print Details check box appears. Select this option if you wish to include activity details in the format you selected.
  2. Click the Go button. You can save the file to print later, open and print it, or cancel the action.
